| There are effectively two classes
of 'special' catered for by the FSOC. The first are the
pre-war models mainly built by small coachbuilding
companies (including Jensen), based on Ford running gear
and chassis. The second - and more numerous - class, the post war specials, comprises those which were generally produced as kit cars, with aluminium or fibreglass bodywork and often specially-designed tubular chassis. Among the better-known manufacturers are Buckler, Dellow, Ashley, Falcon and Rochdale. At various times, companies like Lotus, Morgan and TVR were also involved in Ford sidevalve-powered specials.
